How to Make Carp Dough Bait

How to Make Carp Dough Bait thumbnail
Use dough balls to catch carp.

Carp are a great fish to catch on medium tackle. They put up a hard fight and if caught in clean waters are good eating. Using the right bait will help you catch all the carp you can eat. Dough balls leave a trail of food in the water, attracting the carp right to your hook. You can make your own dough balls at home.

Things You'll Need

  • 3 cups of yellow corn meal
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 3 table spoons of vanilla flavor
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • Aluminum foil
  • Big pot

Instructions

    • 1

Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix them up until you can form small balls with the dough.

    • 2

Fill a big pot with water and bring it to a boil. Take the mixture and roll it into a series of small balls or even ovals about 2 to 3 inches in diameter. Drop them into the boiling water and leave them until they begin to float.

    • 3

Lay out a towel or old cut-up T-shirt to put the balls on. Let the balls cool until they are still warm, but you can touch them. Combine several balls together to make a larger ball about the size of a baseball. Wrap the balls in aluminum foil.
