You can spend loads of cash to have your eyebrows professionally colored OR you can try it at home for a fraction of the cost. With a little care and a steady hand, you can have fabulous eyebrows in minutes. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- A "root touch up" hair-color kit in your desired shade
- Vaseline
- Towel
- Sink
- 15-20 minutes
Instructions
-
-
1
Choose a "root touch up" color kit from your local convenient store or grocer. They usually cost between 5 and 8 dollars and have the tools you will need for coloring your brows. ("Full head" color kits have way too much dye for this job.)
-
2
Rub a thin layer of Vaseline completely around your browline.
-
-
3
Mix the contents of your color according to the box directions. Make sure to use any rubber gloves that come with your kit.
-
4
Using the root touch up brush that comes along with the kit,or your own eyebrow brush, VERY CAREFULLY brush on color so that it saturates the brow. DO NOT allow any of the color to come in contact with your eyes or eyelashes. See warnings below.
-
5
Wait exactly 1/2 of the time indicated by the kit for a typical root touch up. Most colors usually turn shades darker and look very thick as they are processing.
-
6
With warm water and a towel, wipe the color and vaseline off of your eyebrow area. Clean the entire area using water until there is no color left. You may follow up with gentle cleansing as needed.

Tips & Warnings
It is not necessary to use "Full head" hair color kits. You will be using only a fraction of the color for just eyebrows.
Time can be adjusted to achieve desired shade.
SEE ALL WARNING ON THE BOX REGARDING ALLERGIC REACTIONS AND EYECARE. BE AWARE THAT ALL KITS WILL SAY THEY ARE NOT FOR USE ON EYEBROWS OR EYELASHES.

I do my eybrows when I color my hair. I use a q-tip and jut squeeze some of the color on it to apply to my eyebrows. When I am ready to rinse my hair, I also wash it off my eyebrows. About once a quarter, I have my hair professionally done and my hairdressser does them for me with the hair color she has mixed up. -

The girl that waxes my brows gave me the same suggestion a few weeks ago. It works great and you save so much money doing it this way. Thanks for the tips! -

Summer ... This is absolutely great! I've been wanting to color my eyebrows - forever! - and have been too afraid to do it at home. I have blonde hair and I've been using an eyebrow pencil since the 9th grade. You have provided a solution at a fraction of the cost at a salon. Thanks, ~Melanie -
