Salt serves many purposes. here are a few suggestions on how to use salt around the house.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Clean artificial flowers

You can clean your artificial flowers by placing them in a paper bag with 1/4 cup salt. Give the bag a few gentle shakes, and your flowers will emerge as clean as the day you bought them.

  2. Step 2

keep your artificial flower arrangements in place

Salt is a great medium and will keep your artificial flower arrangements in place.

Fill a vase or other container with salt, add a little cold water, and arrange your artificial flowers. The salt will solidify, and the flowers will stay put.

  3. Step 3

    Restore wicker furniture

Wicker furniture can turn colors when exposed to the weather.

To keep your wicker looking new, scrub it with a scrub brush dipped in warm salt water. Let the piece dry in the sun. Repeat this process each year and your wicker will continue to look new.

  4. Step 4

Relieve the itch and pain from bee stings, bites, and poison ivy

Bee sting: Immediately wet the sting and cover with salt. It will lessen the pain and reduce the swelling. Of course, if you are allergic to bee stings, you should get immediate medical attention.

Poison Ivy: Soak the area in hot salt water. You can do the same for bug bites.

    * If you have allot of poison ivy you can soak in a tub of salt water.

  5. Step 5

    Deodorize your sneakers and shoes

Sprinkle some salt into your shoes and sneakers to get rid of the odor.

  6. Step 6

    Discourage ants

If ants are coming into your home you can sprinkle salt across the door frame or directly on their paths. Ants will be discouraged from crossing this barrier.

  7. Step 7
