1. It is important to format a list of job references for your resume. For each job that you are applying, you will need to fill out the references section for the potential employers to evaluate you.

2. Have a list of potential references and rank them in order of very good to okay references. A very good reference ideally is a person that knows you well, will say good things about you and holds a respectable position in the industry. You will typically need 3 references for each job that you are applying for.

3. Type out the name, the company that they are associated with, their position in the company, and their contact information (phone, email, company address).

4. Do this for every single one of your references and save the file for later use on your resume.

5. It is very important to ask your references' permission about using them as reference and tell them a little bit about the jobs that you are applying for.
