Cosmetology is becoming an increasingly popular and important field in today's society. It seems like everybody wants some form of treatment from a cosmetologist. Cosmetology is the study of applying various beauty treatments. Some various branches of cosmetology could include:hairstyling, waxing, laser hair removal, manicures, pedicures, or cosmetics. To be a cosmetology teacher, one has to be very advanced and knowledgeable in all of these fields.

Find a good vocational school. You need to complete 1500 hours of school roughly (every state varies), or you can find a salon owner who is willing to apply for apprentice's license for you. In this case you will usually have to have 2000 hours working under that salon owner.

School will prepare you to learn learn hair (wet styling and heat styling with marcel irons/blow dryers/round brushes/flat irons, chemical services/perms/relaxers/straighteners, coloring, cutting, razoring, clipper cuts, etc), make-up application, facials, arm/shoulder/neck/head massage, manicures, pedicures, we can get certified in artificial nail creation and design, waxing, and how to help a client pick correct coloring and styles for their skin tones and lifestyle.

You have to pass a state board exam (theory and practice). Practice on manequins for the practice portion and be prepared!

Open your own shop. It builds credibility, and you get practice instructing those that work under you, teaching them cosmetology techniques and all of the basics.

Apply at vocational schools or high schools to teach a cosmetology program. The interest in this field becoming more and more popular!
