Help Your Child Choose the Right Backpack
Help Your Child Choose the Right Backpack

Its that time of year again when your child will be picking out a backpack for school. Here is a couple of guidedlines in choosing a backpack.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure the straps are wide and padded. Wide padded straps will less likely cut off circulation and not dig into shoulders. Tighten straps so bag rest close to the body and they are wearing it high.

  2. Step 2

Choose light weight fabrics like canvas or nylon. Leather and metals just add weight.

  3. Step 3

Bigger is not better. Choose a smaller bag and this will encourage your child to carry less. Carry only what you need for the day, not for the whole week.

  4. Step 4

Be Creative. Have your child personalize their bag with artwork so they can spot their bag easily. DONOT have them write their name on the outside of the bag.

on 8/15/2008 Don't forget the importance of not having too many pockets! If your child has eight pockets, they're more likely to lose/forget things in there for YEARS at a time.
