How to Make an Anchor Tab for a Wedding Dress

I have designed and sewn over 200 wedding dresses over the last 20 years as a relaxing hobby. This is such a simple fix, anyone can do it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Piece of silk ribbon 2 inches long, matching the skirt of the dress.
  • Button matching the skirt.
  • Needle and Matching thread.
  1. Step 1

Sew the ribbon into a loop at the hip on the inside of the skirt. Make sure you sew on a hem and on the last layer of the dress.

  2. Step 2

Pinch the skirt at about calf length and place it at the loop. Adjust the length accordingly so that you are not stepping on your gown.

  3. Step 3

Sew the button onto the inside of the hem where you want the skirt to anchor.

Tips & Warnings
  • Twisting the loop around the button if you really plan to shag it heavy on the floor, will keep it from coming unbuttoned.
