You might be interested in finding sold properties in Massachusetts that are comparable to property that you are interested in buying or selling. Should this be the case, these steps will help you to determine the fair market value of the property that you might be buying or selling.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the county where the property is located and visit that county's Registry of Deeds either in person or online.

  2. Step 2

Search the Registry's deeds. You can search by property address, seller name or buyer name. You can limit your search by date. The search results will tell you who sold the property, who bought the property and the amount of the sale. You can search online or at the Registry of Deeds office.

  3. Step 3

Browse through your local newspaper. Many Massachusetts cities and towns have local newspapers that are published weekly. Those papers have a section on property transactions that tells you which property sold, who sold it, who bought it and the amount of the sale.

Tips & Warnings
  • Many of the Massachusetts Registry of Deeds also have information on historic deeds and native american land transactions if you are interested in either of those topics.
  • Many of the Registry of Deeds only have online information dating back to the mid 1960s. If you are looking for information older than that, then you need to go to the county Registry of Deeds where the information is kept.
