Easy homemade wine. Please be patient!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 package of dry yeast
  • 5 lb bag of sugar
  • 3 cups of fruit/berries
  • 2 gallon glass jar
  • cheesecloth
  • water
  1. Step 1

Wash fruit/berries throughly. Combine all ingredients in glass jar and stir. Cover with cheesecloth and store in cool dark place for 3 months.

  2. Step 2

Skim top of mixture at 2 week intervals.

  3. Step 3

At 3rd month, strain through cheesecloth and add additional sugar to taste. Enjoy!!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use any cotton cloth available if you cannot find cheesecloth. (My husband uses old pillow cases).
  • Watermelon wine is the strongest.
  • Check with your local Alcohol & Beverage control board for the legal amounts of homemade wine allowed in your state. (In Mississippi, the legal amount is up to 10 gallons at one time for personal use only.)
  • Homemade wine is not legal for sale.
