Give Good Customer Service

Good customer service is an essential element of a successful business. Good customer service attracts new customers and keeps current customers coming back for more. This article will help your business by explaining how to achieve good customer service.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Respond as quickly as possible to your customers. The first step of good customer service is giving immediate attention. Customers hate to wait, even if it's only for 1 or 2 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Use eye contact if you are in person. If you are over the phone, use the customer's name in appropriate places. This lets them know you are giving good customer service by focusing on them and only them.

  3. Step 3

Listen to your customer's questions, comments, and concerns. Really listen to what your customers are trying to tell you. Sometimes they don't use the correct jargon, but they truly have a valid concern. The most important thing is to never interrupt your customer.

  4. Step 4

Make your customer happy. Good customer service isn't always about the customer. Providing good customer service gives you repeat business. If you have to give a free entree or take away a service fee from someone's account, at least you will have their return business in the future.

  5. Step 5

Follow-up with your customers to see if their concerns were resolved. Do this with a quick phone call or post card in the mail.

Tips & Warnings
  • Even if you are right, more times than not, the customer should always be made to feel "right".
