Instructions

    • 1

Hold the penny between your thumb and forefinger with the heads side facing you. Slide the penny between the tread grooves on a tire and turn it so that the top of Lincoln's head is touching the tire.

    • 2

Look closely at the penny. If you can see all of Lincoln's head, your treads are worn and your tires should be replaced soon.

    • 3

If any part of Lincoln's head is obscured by the tread, there's still a safe amount of tread left on your tires.

Tips & Warnings

  • For optimal tire longevity, rotate your tires after every other oil change. You should also check your tire pressure every time you buy gas and refill them as needed.

  • Don't leave a penny stuck in the treads of a tire.

This was good, but I need to know how much life in left in the tire. I have a lease. I need to buy used tires that will last me 3 months and then some for the big day when I return the car.
