Instructions

    • 1

Select the proper length of your cane pole by what feels comfortable to you. Always cut the big end as you want the strength of the little end to give the pole a proper bait action. Use the saw to cut the appropriate length--preferably at a natural cane section.

    • 2

Attach the fishing line to the large end first and secure with a good knot. Wrap the line several times around the handle end of the pole. This will ensure that if your pole breaks from the really big one, it will not get away. Working up the length of the pole approximately every 2 feet wrap the line with a half knot until you reach the end. Bring the fishing line back down to the handle end and allow for another 3 to 4 feet of extra line. Cut to length with pocket knife.

    • 3

Secure the hook to the end of the line using two or three slip knots and check to see if the hook is secure. Watch those fingers and grip the hook from its side. Using a line type slit sinker attach approximately 6 to 12 inches from the hook. Next the float, bobber or cork can be attached anywhere above the sinker depending on the depth of water.

    • 4

Hunt some worms in your back yard with the shovel. Fill an old coffee can with dirt and worms and then find your favorite fishing hole. Kick back under a nice shade tree, bait the hook, toss the line, and relax from the hectic life.

Tips & Warnings

  • Digging worms is easy if you can find a shady moist place in the yard.

  • Storage of the cane pole is simple since it is so lightweight. Simple pegs placed horizontally can secure a cane pole off of the floor.

  • When not using the cane pole set the hook into the butt end of the handle and twirl the line around the pole.
