Instructions

    • 1

Go to your local hardware, grocery or department store and pick up a container or chemical rust remover. You will find this product near the cleaning products.

    • 2

Visit the landscaping department and pick up a bag of course gravel that has a medium grade, or that is about a 1/2-inch to 1-inch in size.

    • 3

Plug all of the outlet holes in the steel tank. Put on your safety gloves and glasses. Use the inlet hole of the tank to add a couple of handfuls of gravel to the tank. Then pour in the chemical rust remover. Place your hand over the inlet hole and shake the steel tank. This will help remove the rust from the inside of the steel tank.

    • 4

Check the inside of the tank to see how much rust is left over. If there is a lot of rust left let the rust remover sit in the tank over night. Shake every other hour to loosen more rust.

    • 5

Pour out chemical rust remover and gravel from the steel tank. Rinse it out with water and dry it as much a possible.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can inhibit more rust from developing in the tank by applying a thin layer of Navy Jelly to the interior of the tank.
