How to Make a Fabric Pencil Holder
This fabric pencil holder project will make it easier to store school supplies in a backpack or locker without losing them or having them fall all over the place. Thise easy to make fabric pencil holder will keep pencils, pens, erasers, markers, highlighting pens, glue sticks, scissors and whatever other small school supplies all in one place. You can add a personal touch with your choice of fabric. This is a simple project to make and easy to grab and pack .
Things You'll Need
- Fabric 26" long x 9" wide
- Thread
- Sewing needle or sewing machine
- A piece of twine, ribbon , yarn or string , 1 foot long
- A pencil

Use a small piece of fabric for this project. You will need a piece that measures 26 inches long by 9 inches wide. You can change the size if you like.

Pick a fabric or colour choice of your preference. You can use leftover fabric from other projects or buy something new at a fabric store.

Fold the piece of fabric in half with the wrong side out. There is one folded edge that makes the bottom of the holder. Stitch together with a thread and needle or a sewing machine. Sew the two sides that are on either side of the folded edge up to the top, leaving a half inch seam. You now have a bag with an open top.

Bend the rough top edge down a 1/4 inch, then again another 1/4 inch so that the rough cut edge is hidden inside the folds. Then, stitch the area closed, moving all the way around to the top. Make sure the folded material is stitched through all layers around the top. Leave the opening at the top open. Next, turn right side out.

Put the pencils and other school supplies in the fabric pencil holder and tie closed using a 12 inch piece of ribbon, twine , yarn or string, whichever you have handy. Then, put the filled holder in your backpack. Every small school supply will be in one place and easy to spot inside your backpack or locker.
