Step 1
Begin by placing your middle finger on the third fret of the sixth string (low E string). This is the root note of the scale.

Play the second fret of the fifth string (A string) with your forefinger. This is the note B, the second degree of Messiaen's Truncated Mode 6 Inverse scale.

With your ring finger, play the fourth fret of the fifth string. This is the note C sharp, the third degree of Messiaen's Truncated Mode 6 Inverse scale.

With your middle finger, play the third fret of the fourth string (D string). This is the note F, the fourth degree of Messiaen's Truncated Mode 6 Inverse scale.

Play the fifth fret of the fourth string with your pinky. This is the final note of the scale. It is one octave higher than the root note you played in Step 1.
