Halloween parties are fun for children of all ages and great alternatives to trick or treating to the homes of strangers. Young children will particularly love this human spider web project for an entertaining party activity. After the project is complete, it would be a good idea for an adult to stand on a ladder, high above the created spider web, and take an "aerial" photo of the spider web.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gather children, and get them to sit on the floor in a circle. Give the ball of yarn to one child and instruct them to hold on to the end.

  2. Step 2

Toss. As each child catches the ball of yarn, instruct them to hang on to a piece of yarn, before throwing the ball to someone sitting across from them.

  3. Step 3

Criss-cross. During the game, make sure that the children are maintaining a criss-cross pattern in order to properly form a spider web.

  4. Step 4

Take picture. When the children have completed their human spider web, an adult should take a photo from above the project to get the full effect of the "web". Print a copy of this photo for each child in attendance.

  5. Step 5

Catch bugs. Toss plush bugs and insects into the web and allow children to catch the bugs that fly into the web.

Tips & Warnings
  • The plush bugs and insects could be given away as party favors.
  • An adult should monitor this game to avoid the possibility of children wrapping the yarn around their necks.
