    Things You'll Need

    • Galvanized tub
    • Red and green apples
    • Small pumpkins
    • Lemon juice
    • Sharp knife
    • Tea candles

Fill your tub about 2/3 full with cool, clean water. Put in an apple to see if it floats straight. If it tilts to one side you will want to mark where the top center is, so when you cut the hole it will be directly on the top. Do the apples and pumpkins one by one until they are all marked. You can use as many as you want, but you want them to float around, so don't overcrowd them.

Cut a circle in the top the size of the diameter of your tea candle. Now go down as deep as the tin tea candle holder and pop the piece out. You will be taking off all of the stems. With the pumpkins, you will probably only be removing the stems and a little bit around them. Don't go too deep or you will go right through the pumpkin. Put some lemon juice on the open parts of the apples to keep them from turning brown.

Place the tea candles in the holes you just cut out of the tops of the apples and pumpkins. Put them in the water. Make sure none of them are getting water in the holes. You can use colored or scented tea candles (apple or spice would be best). You can decorate the outside of the tub with some leaves, Indian corn and nuts or just leave it plain. Now all you have to do is light the floating candles.

    Tips & Warnings

    • It would be best to set this up in its final destination before you start. You don't want to try to move a tub full of water around.

    • Be careful that nothing is hanging near the tub when you have the candles lit.

    • Keep an eye on your pets as they may try to take a drink from the tub.
