How to Clean a Bath Tub
Grubby, scummy, and dirty--it doesn't take much to make your bathtub look uninviting and not the kind of place you want to clean yourself. However, cleaning a bathtub is quicker than you think if you follow these simple and effective steps. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Bleach cleaning spray
- Heavy duty sponge
- Normal sponge
- Cleaning spray
- Dish cleaning soap

Begin by rinsing the bathtub out with water and wiping down with a paper towel to eliminate any surface grime that can lift easily.

Re-wet the bathtub and also put the normal sponge under water as well. Add a few drops of dish detergent. Remove the sponge from the water and squeeze. You should see the soap froth out of the sponge.

Scrub the bathtub, starting with the top lip and working down and around, using the normal sponge. For really dirty spots, switch your sponge over to the coarser side and use additional pressure. When you have completed the surface area of the tub, rinse the tub again with water and dry with paper towels.

Locate any spots that are still dirty or covered with mildew and spray with the cleaning spray. Use the rough side of your heavy duty sponge to scrub as much of the dirt away as possible. When you have completed as much as you can, rinse that area and dry with a paper towel.

Use the bleach cleaning spray on any spot that still shows mildew or mold, including any areas with grout. Cover the area with the liquid and let it sit for five minutes. If you have a window, open it; the room should be as well ventiliated as possible when bleach is in use. If you have any children or pets it is advisable to keep them away from the area at this stage.

Wipe away the bleach carefully with a paper towel and then rinse and rewipe. This should clear away the remaining mildew and grime as well as treat the area against future outbreaks of mold.

Be sure the bleach doesn't get on any clothing or items that can be stained. If you get any on your skin, wash with soap and water immediately.
