Zoom blur is a great technique to highlight moving objects. People, bikes and even cars can all be captured by zoom blur. This article will give you the steps to make your image take on new life with the zoom blur in Photoshop Elements.

Things You'll Need:

  • A good quality photo in electronic form
  • A computer with Adobe Photoshop Elements installed
  1. Step 1

    Open Photoshop Elements 4.0. You will be working in the "Edit and Enhance Photos" module.

  2. Step 2

    Open the picture to which you would like to apply a zoom blur.

  3. Step 3

    Select the Eliptical Marquee Tool from the toolbar and create a selection around your subject.

  4. Step 4

    Click on "Selection."

  5. Step 5

    Click on "Feather." Play with different radius numbers. A good place to start is 30. Click "Ok".

  6. Step 6

    Click on "Select."

  7. Step 7

    Click on "Inverse," then "Filter," then "Blur," then "Radial Blur."

  8. Step 8

    Select the radio buttons beside "Zoom" and "Best" quality. Click "OK" and observe the zoom blur appear on your photo.
