How to Defeat Edea in Final Fantasy VIII
Edea is a powerful sorceress in Final Fantasy VIII. She has very damaging spells, such as Firaga, Thundaga and Blizzaga. Her Hit Point quotient, or HP, is 7,000. These spells can do 300 or more damage to your character's HP. The fight with Edea occurs at the end of Disc One in Final Fantasy VIII, and is probably one of the hardest fights on that disc. When you go to fight her, Squall's status level should be at least a 27. If you would like some tips to help defeat Edea, this article is for you.

1
Draw Edea's magic spells, like Firaga and Blizzaga, and cast them upon her instead of stocking them. These spells do significant damage, so you will be fighting her by using her powers against her.
-
2
Use GF Carbuncle. This Guardian Force casts reflections so that Edea's powerful magic will reflect off your characters and be cast upon herself. This will also make her use up a turn by forcing her to cast Dispel on you to break the Reflect spell.

3
Use Potions to heal your party members' HP while using Carbuncle. Potions are stored in the Item category, so make sure "Item" is selected as a command for each character.
-
4
Summon other GFs to deal damage to Edea. Make sure to use Boost when summoning your Guardian Forces to deal the most damage.
-
5
Use each character's Limit Break whenever possible. Limit Breaks do a good deal of damage to any foe.
-
6
Cast Double on your party members so that healing them will be twice as effective.

Tips & Warnings
If you use GF Carbuncle, be sure not to use Cure. Since Carbuncle reflects magic, Cure will reflect off your party members and be cast upon Edea, healing her.
Use Mug to steal Elixir if you can afford to use a turn.
