How to Make Butterscotch Squares Topped with Butterscotch Icing!

This treat is rich and tasty as treats should be.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • another 1/4 cup butter
  • another 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar (approximately)
  1. Step 1

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8" pan.

    Mix together the flour and baking powder.

    Heat together over low heat the butter and sugar. Bring briefly to a boil.

    Remove mixture from heat and cool slightly.

  2. Step 2

    Into the butter mixture quickly add the eggs, vanilla, nuts and flour mixture. Blend well.

    Spoon into prepared pan and bake for approximately 30 minutes. Cool in pan.

  3. Step 3

    While squares cool, prepare icing.

    In a heavy saucepan, bring to a boil the butter, brown sugar and milk. Simmer gently for 2 minutes, stirring slowly. Remove from heat and cool.

    Add confectioner' s sugar gradually, stirring until of spreading consistency. Spread on squares. Enjoy!
