How to Make a Handprint Butterfly Craft
Handprint butterfly crafts are easy to make, and can give you a way to remember how small your children's hands used to be once they are grown up. Whether you save this craft for a rainy day activity, or make it a quick project to keep the kids occupied while you cook dinner, your children will enjoy making these colorful creatures.
Things You'll Need

1
Trace your children's hands onto 3 pieces of construction paper, each being of a different color. You will have one right hand and one left hand made out of each color for a total of 6 handprints.
-
2
Cut out each of the 6 handprints and set them off to the side.

3
Draw the body for your butterfly on a sheet of black construction paper. You can either make one long oval shape, or a long oval shape with a smaller circle shape at the top.
-
4
Glue the handprints to the back of the butterfly's body. Place 3 of the handprints on each side, with the fingers pointing out. The right hand ones will go on the right side of the butterfly's body, and the left hand ones will go on the left side.
-
5
Decorate the body and wings of the butterfly with markers or crayons, and remember to draw eyes for your butterfly. You can even get creative and use buttons or small plastic jewels to make the eyes.
-
6
Fold one black pipe cleaner in half and curl the edges down a little bit. The pipe cleaner will serve as your butterfly's antennae and will need to be glued to the back of the butterfly's head.
