How to Tie Chair Sashes in a Bow

  1. Step 1

Slip the cover on the chair.

  2. Step 2

Walk to the back of the chair and face it.

  3. Step 3

Grab the sash on either side in the middle.

  4. Step 4

Line up the middle of the sash with the middle of the chair.

  5. Step 5

Pull the sash around the chair back toward you. You want it to be snug, but pulling it too tight could make it slip upward.

  6. Step 6

Tie the sash in one knot, in the middle of the chair back.

  7. Step 7

Tighten the knot by pulling out to the side until it's snug. The ends should hang down on either side of the knot and the sash should be evenly horizontal front to back.

  8. Step 8

Tie a bow, just like you tie your shoes. With a thick, wide sash it's best to make two loops. Cross them over and pull one through the other. Leave it a bit loose for now.

  9. Step 9

Hold each side of one loop, width-wise, and spread it apart. This will make the loop wider. Repeat on the other side.

  10. Step 10

Pull both loops at the same time to tighten.
