How to Braid Hair Extensions

Would you like to have hair extensions without the risk of using a messy glue? If glue is just not for you, here is another application technique called braiding. Braiding hair extensions is a little tricky but with these simple instructions you will have perfect braids every time. Read to learn how.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Conditioning treatment (varies for hair type)
  • Comb
  • Clips
  • Matching hair extensions
  • Rubber hair bands
  1. Step 1

    Condition your hair well. You may also want to freshly trim the ends of your real hair before braiding in matching extensions.

  2. Step 2

    Seperate your hair, using a clip to hold each sections. Hold a piece of hair in one hand and then take a piece from the extension hair and lay it across the real hair held in your hand. The thickness of both pieces, need to match.

  3. Step 3

    Wrap your hair around the hair extension at the scalp. Hold with a firm grip in order to keep the hair in place.

  4. Step 4

    Separate the hair that you are holding into three pieces. Two pieces will consist of the hair extensions and the third will consist of your real hair.

  5. Step 5

    Braid the pieces of hair. Start with the right over the center and then move the left over the center. Keep the braid tight. Continue alternating the second and third pieces to the center, braiding as much you desire. End with a rubber hair band or the end piece of choice.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you run out of hair during the braid simply grab another piece from your extension hair to continue. The smaller the braid, the better the hold.
