Mouth watering catfish you ever had

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ground red pepper
  • 1 cup butter milk
  • 1 larg egg
  • 2 1/2 cups self-rising cornmeal
  • 2 Tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoon dried thyme
  • Catfish fillets {This makes about 5 lbs}
  • Peanut oil {For frying}
  1. Step 1

    Combine the first 4 ingredients in a shallow backing pan

  2. Step 2

    In another bowl mix buttermilk and egg.

  3. Step 3

    In a large zip-lock bag combine Cornmeal, Garlic powder and Thyme.

  4. Step 4

    Dredge your catfish in the flower mixture, then dip it into the buttermilk ~ Then shake the catfish in the sealed zip-lock bag.

  5. Step 5
     

    Fry in a deep fryer or a heavy duty cast iron skillet in the hop peanut oil.

Tips & Warnings
  • I serve it with my Hush puppies ~~ Other Article
  • A great Dark Beer goes great with this dish.
  • Watch out for the hot oil !!!
