How to Make Scented Stones and Rocks
Scented stones and rocks can be put in a decorative container and set out as a decoration, or you can add them to your floral arrangements to give them a nice scent. They are simple to make and they last for months.
Things You'll Need
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1/4 cup corn starch
- 2/3 cup water
- 1 tbsp. essential oil or fragrance oil
- Food coloring
- Small paint brush

Mix flour, salt and cornstarch together in a bowl and set aside.

Boil water and mix in essential oil or fragrance oil. You want the scent to be strong because it will fade when it drys. If a tablespoon isn't strong enough,add more (up to a quarter of a cup). Add food color to the water. You can do this now and have them all the same color or you can add a drop to each rock as you are making it. You can also wait until they are formed and paint the color on.

Mix the water mixture into the dry ingredients and stir as best you can. Mix with your hands just as you would if you were making pie dough. Pull pieces off and form into rocks or flatten them to look like stones. You can also use cookie cutters to make them into shapes. Let dry overnight.

Place your rocks on a soap dish and put in your bathroom. Put some rocks in with a flower arrangement. It will look natural and smell great. Use in your indoor herb garden. Put them in a jar on a shelf in the den. You can even put them in your car.

Tips & Warnings
As with anything made from a food source, watch for bugs. After the scent is gone, throw them away and make fresh ones. Don't put them somewhere where you will forget about them.
Food coloring can stain. So don't put them in with any kind of material that you don't want to get stained.
