Things You'll Need:

- Patience
- Hope

Step 1
Signs of teen meth useA recent commissioned study conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) said that the number of teens experimenting with this incredibly addictive and destructive drug, has risen to about 3%, which was significantly higher than any previous studies have reported in the past. In fact, more than 8% of high school seniors surveyed just seven years ago had admitted to using meth. This number has now risen greatly above the initial 8%.
How can you tell if your child is using? Look at the warning signs:
* If you notice a change in your teens sleeping patterns - i.e.: If your teen is staying away for days on end, then ends up sleeping non-stop for a couple of days.
* If you notice that your child has become uninterested in food.
* If your teen starts becoming dangerously thin, suddenly.
* Be conscious of any rapidly diminishing relationships between both your teen's family and/or friends.
* If your teen becomes depressed or shows a lack of enthusiasm towards things they would normally enjoy doing.
* If your teen starts stealing - They have to support their habit. -
Step 2
Using methUnderstand that meth is an addiction and what many teens will do to support such an addiction.
Many teens who begin using, end up spending somewhere between $100 to $300 a day for the drug. A gram is good for about several hits according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Each hit can produce a mind numbing high that can last for up to **12 hours**. -
Step 3
Sex for methJust how devastating is this drug on our teenage girls?
4% of female users have admitted that they have either performed sexual acts in exchange for more of the drug, or have sold their bodies to get money to buy more of this drug.
That coupled with the fact that meth also puts addicts at a greatly increased risk for HIV and other STD's due to the exposure of violent assaults and other things. -
Step 4
There is help availableGet your teen help and fast!
But now here comes the catch. There are treatment options available to you, though they can be very difficult to find; especially depending on where you live. Not only that, but they are highly expensive!
Private insurance companies, at best, might cover 30 days of treatment. And while that may be sufficient time for other drugs, the grip of meth addiction is so deep and strong, that at least nine months of regular daily treatment is necessary to just put a good enough dent into the hold that meth has on you.
Get counseling, and read up on meth and the vicious hold that it has over our children. Fight back so this drug isn't a silent killer any longer!
