How to Decorate a Classroom in a Jungle Theme

Classrooms should feature a fun decorating theme because it makes the room inviting and stimulating and those qualities inspire the students to relax and enjoy learning. Your class will love to see all the decorations and all of the bright colors that you can incorporate into your classroom. A jungle theme is just one of the themes that work well in a classroom.

Things You'll Need

• Scissors
• Construction paper
• Craft paper
• Tape or glue sticks
• Stencils
• Embellishments
• Cut-out animal shapes

Instructions

1. Purchase decorating supplies. Make sure you have a couple of rolls of tape, as well as scissors, construction paper, stickers, and stencils if you need. You can find them at any craft or department store and often find them on sale around the back to school season. Find a variety of items to give yourself a wide range of items to use for decorating.

2. Use stencils to cut out shapes. If you are not the best at drawing and cutting freehand, use stencils to trace out grass, trees and animals. Include animals such as lions and tigers and use bright colored paper. You can purchase decorations like these directly from teacher supply stores, or you can use your creativity to create your own.

3. Add textured materials such as crepe paper and glitter. Nothing will excite students more than shiny and dimensional materials such as crepe paper and glitter. It will give the jungle theme a special look and make it stand out little more than traditional pictures.

4. Cover walls and doors with craft paper. You want to make sure have a clean flat surface to cover so that you can easily remove it for the seasons. You can find craft paper at teacher supply stores or as well as at Target and Wal-Mart. They are fairly inexpensive, but you will want to make sure that you have a few rolls on hand.

5. Add cut out shapes and embellishments. Once you have covered the walls you want to decorate with paper, it is time to add the embellishments and shapes you have created. Use double sided tape to hide the tape, or you can even use a glue stick for small items.
