Things You'll Need:
- A planning book to keep everything and all interviews organized.
- Referrals from other area Brides.
- Photographs of flowers that appeal to you.
- Colors or themes you like.
- Or, none of the above, that is why you're visiting with an expert.
-
Step 1
Match ceremony flowers to enhance the surrounding ceremony's natural setting. It is best to all ready have your selected ceremony and reception site in place before visiting with a florist. Generally it is suggested that you hire a florist between 6 to 9 months in advance, however, I suggest 9 to 12 months in advance to select your florist of choice. This gives the Bride a concise look at what the site will look like when the actual Wedding takes place a year from now.
-
Step 2
Browse the web sites of local wedding florists, attend local Bridal shows, and find wedding florists that have taken the time to be included in local publications. This is an indication that they are serious about their business and dedication to their craft. Rely on your other resources such as friends, family, and perticullary banquet managers. Reception site coordinators can help to match a florist with a Bride by past experience. And would not recommend a professional that they did not trust themselves, why would they ? A good floral designer will also compliment the venue best when familiar with the space. Call for your complimentary consultations. If uncertain who to hire, I suggest meeting 3 florists before deciding. But if you absolutely love someone, book them.
-
Step 3
Wedding bouquets in all shades of pink.Bring as much information with you as you have. Pictures of the Bridal gown, dress colors, contact information, etc. Decide what the most important thing is to you and be honest. Is it the Bridal bouquet and personal flowers, the ceremony, or reception and cake flowers ? Or is it service and attention to detail ? Price and personality ? Florists are talented people with different styles so determine the best you can who has a style that appeals to you or someone that you trust will achieve what you want. Make sure you see photos of current work and samples. Make sure you feel comfortable and find out if they will be the one designing your flowers, do not assume, some flower shops have 5 to 12 weddings a day! This does not mean that the additional staff is not qualified, it just means that it is not the person you met that sold you on their work. Give them a realistic budget that you want to work with. It saves time and allows a designer to choose the proper flowers available with in your range.
-
Step 4
Finally make a decision and book the florist you want ASAP. You should receive a contract that has each item detailed and confidence in your choice. I develop a relationship with all the Brides and/or couples and families I work with over time keeping the lines of communication open at all times as plans evolve.
