Things You'll Need:
- Crochet hook (I use K)
- Yarn (fuzzy yarn is fun, and makes warm booties), about 3.5 oz (you'll actually use less, but it's good to have extra in case of mistakes)
- Pom Pom Maker (optional)
-
Step 1
5 rows of 25 stitches eachChain 25. Double crochet (DC) stitches will be used. Row 1 is DC 25. Chain 2 (this will count as a stitch from now on). Turn. DC 24 for row 2. Chain 2. Turn. DC 24 for row 3. Chain 2. Turn. DC 24 for row 4. Chain 2. Turn. DC 24 for row 5. You should have a total of 5 rows of 25 stitches each. On row 5, however, do not chain 2.
-
Step 2
Rows 6-9 15 stitches eachOn row 6, single crochet through first 5 stitches. Then chain 3 (this will count as a stitch). Double crochet in the next 14. Your row 6 should have 15 stitches total, with an opening of 5 stitches on either side. Chain 2. Turn. DC 14 for row 7. Chain 2. Turn. DC 14 for row 8. Chain 2. Turn. DC 14 for row 9.
-
Step 3
Folded and sewed bootieFold your bootie in half and sew it up. Turn it inside out and shape it. You now have a bootie! Repeat steps 1-3 to make a second bootie. If you'd like to add laces, continue to Step 4. Otherwise, you're done!
-
Step 4
Completed booties with laces: one is lace only, 1 is lace with pom pomsTo make a lace, chain 50 in a semi-tight to tight chain. Tie off. Weave strands through the top row on the sewed-up bootie. Ends of laces should be even on both sides. You can also make small pom poms to attach to each end of the lace if desired.
