Are you generous and caring, but lack the energy required to give to those in need? Now you can give from the comfort of your home and on your own time. Learn how to be a lazy philanthropist for the times when you care, but don't want to move.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Kiva.org -- Kiva embraces the concept of micro-lending, and has made it incredibly easy to lend money to entrepreneurs in developing nations. Choose from a large selection of borrowers, and lend as little as $25. When the loan is paid off, you can withdrawal the balance, or re-loan it to someone else.

  2. Step 2

Click to Give - Go to http://www.theliteracysite.com. Thanks to corporate sponsors, you can give food, books, and even mammograms just by clicking your mouse. That's right, it's completely free! And if you are feeling particularly ambitious, you can click once every day.

  3. Step 3

JustGive.org -- For the exceptionally lazy, let other people decide how to give money by using justgive.org For the perfect wedding gift, make a charitable donation in their name.

  4. Step 4

DonorsChoose.org -- This is similar to Kiva, but instead of entrepreneurs, DonorsChoose helps teachers. Teachers ask for materials for their classroom projects, you choose which project to bring to life, and then the students send you letters and photos.

  5. Step 5

Heifer.org -- Help children and families around the world receive training and animal gifts that help them become self-reliant. Heifer's online shopping cart makes it easy to make a huge difference in someone's life.

on 10/18/2008 this is great info. I too am a lazy philanthropist. My donation to womenforwomen.org is deducted from my credit card monthly. I can still contribute and make a difference almost transparently.
