Things You'll Need:
- Commitment
- Time
- Dog Leash
- Treats/Toys
-
Step 1
Play with your dog -- Dogs thrive on human social interaction and affection. To properly love and care for your dog, spend time with it, play with it, and shower it with affection. Dogs that are loved and well-socialized are generally happy, confident, and robust. The more you love your dog, the more it will love you back!
-
Step 2
Give Your Dog Toys -- Whether it's a ball, a chew toy, or a rope, most dogs love (or learn to love) toys. Dog toys can be great distractions to keep your dog busy while you are away or preoccupied, and toys can help your dog release anxiety and frustration. Dog toys are a great way to show your dog love and affection.
-
Step 3
Socialize Your Dog -- Dogs are social creatures that need active, ongoing socialization (with other dogs) to be healthy and happy. Allow your dog to mingle with other dogs. Enroll your dog in an obedience class or training course, or walk him in areas where there are large amounts of dogs. Your dog's health and happiness will improve the more he is socialized.
-
Step 4
Spoil your dog -- Spoil your dog to show that you love and care for him. Buy him a toy, a special treat, or take him to the dog beach or dog park. Take her for a car ride, a hike in the mountains, or a trip to the pet store. Spoiling your dog every now and then is a great way to show your dog love and affection.
