Ski during the day or night. Ellicottville is home to Holiday Valley, New York’s largest ski resort, and its neighbor, the equally large private ski resort of HoliMont, now open to the public on weekdays. Here, you’ll find superb skiing conditions throughout much of the winter because of the lake-effect snows blowing off Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers have free run of the resort’s golf course, and there’s plenty of room to play for snowboarders. Ski and snowboard lessons are also available.
