Do you want to relax on the beach in Havana, sipping cocktails with Hemingway? Ok, Papa Hemingway is long gone, and its hard for most people to get to Cuba. So, drinking a Mojito cocktail is the closest you'll ever come to that dream. But come on, be creative. How about sipping a Mojito cocktail in the backyard, reading "The Old Man and the Sea." The Mojito cocktail rose to popularity over 20 years ago, and has stayed at the top of most people's list for best beach drink.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 tsp of sugar
  • 6-8 mint leaves
  • club soda
  • 1 lime, halved
  • 2oz. light rum
  • mint sprig
  • ice
  • highball glass
  • straw
  1. Step 1

Place the mint leaves, sugar, and a little club soda in a highball glass.

  2. Step 2

Muddle well to disolve the sugar and release the mint flavor.

  3. Step 3

Squeeze the juice from both halves of the lime into the glass. Leave one half of the lime in the glass.

  4. Step 4

Add the rum, and stir well.

  5. Step 5

Fill the glass with ice cubes, and top off with club soda.

  6. Step 6

Garnish with mint sprig, and serve with a straw.

on 9/9/2008 I've been looking for a good Mojito recipe. Thanks for the tip on buying higher end rum. The picture makes me wish I was on a beach somewhere sipping one; instead of watching it rain !
