A Fastpass ticket cuts down on time spent waiting in line

A Fastpass is a paper ticket that is printed at kiosks at popular Disney attractions and allows you to return to an attraction at a later time and not have to wait in line. The Fastpass was first tested at Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World in 1999, and due to its success, it was instituted throughout the Disney theme-park system.

Instructions

    • 1

Plan your day. Know which attractions are covered by the Fastpass and make a schedule. Choose your favorite attractions first. Fastpasses for the most popular rides, like Expedition Everest and Test Track at Walt Disney World, are so popular that they are gone by mid-afternoon. It is not unusual to get a Fastpass at 10 a.m. and find that the earliest time you can return is mid- to late-afternoon.

    • 2

Locate the Fastpass machines for the attraction. They are usually situated very near the entrance to the attraction. When you’ve located the machine, you will see two clocks—one showing the Standby wait time and the other showing the Fastpass return time.

    • 3

Insert your park admission ticket into the Fastpass machine and receive a Fastpass ticket with a time range in which to return. The typical time range for a return visit is about an hour, although some popular rides have much longer waits between the time you claim your Fastpass and when you can actually use it.

    • 4

Enjoy the attraction now and get a Fastpass for later; or, if the wait is longer than you’d like, get a Fastpass for a return time when you won’t have to wait in a long line.

    • 5

Send one member of your party with everyone’s park admission tickets to secure a Fastpass for everyone while the rest of the party waits in line for another attraction. The person you send to get the Fastpass tickets can then either join you in line or get a refreshment or take a restroom break. Just remember to set a meeting place and time.

Tips & Warnings

  • Fastpass tickets are free, but there are only a limited number of passes available per time period each day. When you return with your Fastpass, enter the Fastpass line.

  • You cannot get a second Fastpass until your first Fastpass time has expired; the Fastpass machine tracks this.

  • Every member of your party will have to have a separate Fastpass. A cast member will check your Fastpass before allowing you on the attraction.
