Whether you are looking to trade your current boat in for a new one or just want to sell it, it's important that you know your boat's value. You could end up settling for less than it is worth if you don't do your research. Luckily, you can easily find the value of a boat with these simple steps.

From Quick Guide: Boat Evaluation Basics
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Boat manufacturer's name
  • Boat's make, model and year
  • Features and options of the boat
  1. Step 1

Visit American Boating's website. (link below). Enter your zip code if you live in the United States. If you live in a different country, you can choose your country in the drop-down list below the zip code option. Once you enter your zip code or select your country, click on "Submit."

  2. Step 2

Choose the first letter of your boat's manufacturer. You can choose from "Boats and Personal Watercrafts," "Outboard Motors" as well as "Boat Trailers."

  3. Step 3

Choose the make and year of your boat. The different manufacturers containing the first letter you chose will be displayed. Make sure you scroll down until you find your manufacturer and then choose the boat's make and year.

  4. Step 4

Choose your boat's model. The available models of the make and year you selected will be displayed on this page. Browse through them until you find the right model, then click on it.

  5. Step 5

Choose any of the available options and equipment your boat has. This will make a significant difference on your boat value, so make sure you look through the list thoroughly. If you aren't really sure if your boat has a certain listed feature, consult the manual that came with your boat or inspect your boat to figure it out.

  6. Step 6

Click on "Get Used Value" to see how much your boat is worth. The results, on the left side of the page, will list both "low" and "average" retail. If you want to start a new inquiry, click on "Get Another Price" below the financial result and you will be directed back to choosing the first letter of the boat's manufacturer.
