How to Make a Swimming Pool Area Safe

You don't want to find out what it's like to have an accident with children or pets in your swimming pool. So here are a few tips on how to keep that special area safe.

Instructions

1. 
   Keep swimming pool areas safe

   Fence in the pool area with a minimum 5' tall fence. Add a low layer of chicken wire if you have small dogs.

2. Never leave younger children or pets unsupervised no matter how well you think they can swim.

3. Get a good safety cover for the pool.

4. Install self-closing gates and latches at a higher level.

5. 
   Design plan for swimming pool placement

   Always design and build a pool where it is visible from windows that look out from inside the house.

6. Don't swim immediately after meals or during thunderstorms.

7. Keep attractions like toys cleaned up from the pool area.

8. Learn CPR ... just in case.

9. It truly is "better to be safe than sorry!"
