Finding import racing parts can be a challenge. But with the Internet, you have more choices and many more outlets to find those specialty parts that keep your baby running as soundly as the day she was born (or bought). These parts stores are all over the Internet, and some even have brick-and-mortar stores close to you. Here's a guide on how to find import racing parts.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Phone
  • Car
  1. Step 1

Find several online stores devoted selling import racing parts. There are some listed in the Resources section below, so click on a few and search through their inventory. They may have what you need. If not, go to Step 2.

  2. Step 2

Log on to eBay motors and search their website for the parts you need (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Call your local import or foreign car repair shop and ask them where they get their import parts. They may have a catalog or resource you can contact directly overseas. You will have to pay to have them shipped along with the customs fees, but if you really need the part, it will be worth the cost.

  4. Step 4

Search any other directories you find online like the Open Directory, which lists several parts companies and other auto resources (see Resources below).

  5. Step 5

Online forums are another resource, so try finding the parts you need on Google groups (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings
  • Small racing stores and import repair shops might be your best bet if you are going to reach out and contact someone about getting your own import racing parts. These shops know a lot of suppliers overseas and can get you started.
  • Online forums are also another resource, try Google groups at http://groups.google.com/, or search for your own forums by typing "auto forums" into your search bar.
  • Buying your own import parts from an overseas resource will be more costly, because the parts will have to be shipped individually, and since they are heavy, this will be expensive. Customs fees also add to the expense. Large parts warehouses buy or store parts in bulk and ship them to you, so it is more cost effective.
