Plan a new-age theme for your next get-together and invite guests to learn their Life Path number using numerology.Numerology, or the study of a specific system to determine personality traits and even predict future events, is not a new science. For thousands of years, religious thinkers and leaders have used the date of birth and other specific information about an individual to determine his or her path in life. The Greek philosopher Pythagoras is credited with developing the earliest blueprint for today’s science of numerology in around 500 BC.Today, numerology is moving out of New Age thought and into the mainstream, as more and more people are drawn to the study. One of the most important teachings of numerology is a person’s Life Path number, which is derived from the date of birth. Here’s how to find your Life Path number - and what it means to you.

How to Determine Your Life Path Number with Numerology

  1. Step 1

Drape tables with star-and-moon-patterened cloth, and serve something exotic and spicy like Indian or Lebanese food. Then hand out paper and pen and let the fun begin.

  2. Step 2

Explain that llfe path numbers, from 1 to 9, indicate a person's special skills and abilities, as well as their progress through life. Determining a life path number isn't difficult and requires no special math aptitude or spiritual skills.

  3. Step 3

    Determine your life path number by first writing down your date of birth. Use this method: for example, a birthdate of Aug. 13, 1957, will be combined as follows: 8 + 1 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 7 = 34.

  4. Step 4

Continue adding until you reduce the final number to a single digit. In the example above, 3 + 4 = 7, for a life path number of 7.Don’t forget to add the full year of birth (1 + 9 + 5 + 7), not just the last two digits.

  5. Step 5

If your date of birth adds up to an 11 or 22, you can consider yourself a “double winner.” This means that you have the traits of a 1 or a 2, only amplified.
