How to Become a Kitchen Supervisor
With the creation of the Food Network, chefs have become celebrities and many people want to be part of that scene. The restaurant scene can be fast-paced and exciting, but on the other hand, it can be extremely competitive and exhausting. People looking to become kitchen supervisors must be physically strong, good with basic math and have excellent leadership abilities. On a daily basis, a kitchen supervisor may have meetings with the executive chef and head server as well as directing the daily operations of the kitchen when the executive chef is off.

Obtain cooking experience by taking courses or completing a culinary degree. Degrees can take one to two years to complete and courses may take three months to finish.

Apply to various restaurants for a line cook position. This is the first position you will get as a beginning cook. Show up to work on time and work hard to please the executive chef, who is the person who could promote you to kitchen supervisor.

Work the various positions on the line to get the experience you need to become a kitchen supervisor. You may have to spend six months to a year at each position.
