How to Make Paper Butterflies

Making paper butterflies is a fun and easy craft to do using only two items. If you like to recycle, you can use magazine pages from old magazines or reuse the tissue paper from gift bags. This craft is great for all ages, young and old.

Things You'll Need:

• Colorful magazine pages or tissue paper
• 12-inch pipe cleaners

1. Pick two colorful magazine pages or tissue paper.

2. Cut one 5-by-5 foot square.

3. Cut a second square measuring 4 inches by 4 inches.

4. Fold each square accordion style by starting at one corner and folding on the diagonal. The folds should be about 1/4 inch each.

5. Fold a pipe cleaner in half, and create a small loop at the bottom by twisting the pipe cleaner once.

6. Pinch the middle of each square of paper.

7. Place the 5-inch square of paper inside the folded pipe cleaner.

8. Next, place the 4-inch square paper inside the folded pipe cleaner so it's on top of the five inch square.

9. Secure the paper by twisting the pipe cleaner both above and below the pieces of paper.

10. Curl the two loose ends of the pipe cleaner for antennae.

• Make a mobile by hanging several butterflies using thread and attaching to an embroidery hoop.
