Step 1
Watch your favorite episodes of "Sex and the City," and decide exactly what spots from the show you would like to visit. Some spots are easier to locate than others, and some are merely fabricated for the show, and don't actually exist in New York.
-
Step 2
Read up on these "Sex and the City" spots online. The more work and research you do in planning your trip prior to arriving in the city, the better off you will be. Some hot spots include "Il Cantinori," where Carrie had her birthday party and none of her friends showed; "Magnolia Bakery," where Carrie and Miranda enjoyed cupcakes after Carrie gave up cigarettes for Aiden; "Manolo Blahnik," where Carrie registered for shoes; and "The Fountain at Columbus Circle," where Aiden tells Carrie they should get married that night.

Step 3
Look for the exact address where these bars, attractions, houses, and shops are located, then attempt to find them on the map. Most attractions will be easy to find in the yellow pages or a New York City guide book. Many of the shops featured in "Sex and the City" are listed in guide books, as are many of the monuments and attractions where many events in the show took place.

Step 4
Figure out a route to visit these spots without backtracking or going too far out of your way. Mark the locations you wish to visit on a map, then figure out a path that will allow you to see the "Sex and the City" spots in a timely manner. You may want to limit yourself to only checking out sights of Lower Manhattan one day, Staten Island the next, and so on.
