Los Angeles is a paradise for healthy and organic food lovers. If you are interested in being able to purchase healthy organic groceries at all times, then Los Angeles is the place for you. There are many options for grocers carrying organic food in the city.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to the Hollywood Lemon Grove Farmers Market in Lemon Grove Park. With its bright outdoors location and cheery vibe, this is the ideal place to shop for healthy organic foods. From free-range chicken to organically grown vegetables, fruits, and herbs, this is an excellent place to stock up on all your organic food favorites. As they always tell you, the best time to show up at this market is early in the morning, because the freshest items never are around for very long.

  2. Step 2

Go to Bristol Farms Supermarket on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Bristol Farms is an excellent chain supermarket that specializes in healthy and organic foods. If it's Heirloom Organic Tomatoes you desire, or the freshest King Salmon around, Bristol Farms is your place. There is also an excellent selection of prepared meals and bakery items.

  3. Step 3

Check out Whole Foods on San Vicente Boulevard. Whole Foods is an excellent, large supermarket specializing in organic, healthful, and gourmet foods. Whole Foods is a great one-stop place to get everything you need, whether it's cheese, meat, produce, breads, sushi, or desserts. The variety of organic produce available here is astounding. And after you're done stocking up on fruits, vegetables, and meats, the food bar is a great place to stop and have a great lunch, whether it's Indian, Japanese, French, or Chinese.

  4. Step 4

Visit Trader Joe's on South La Brea Avenue. Trader Joe's is the quintessential excellent organic/healthy food supermarket. Whether it's organic low-fat yogurt you're looking for, or organic crackers, Trader Joe's is going to have it, and it's going to be tasty. Even better, it's going to be low-priced! Though this store usually is on the crowded side, the items you put in your shopping basket are always going to make it worth it.

  5. Step 5

Stop by Full O' Life Natural Foods Market on West Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank. Full O'Life has been happily catering to customers in the Burbank area for over forty years, so it is known as being one of Los Angeles' oldest natural markets. The organic fruits and vegetables available at Full O' Life are delivered daily from organic farms all over Southern California, so you cannot beat the freshness and authenticity of the items available here. Be sure to also check out the restaurant that is part of the supermarket.

Tips & Warnings
  • Lots of large Southern California chain supermarkets such as Vons and Ralph's have large organic food sections as well, so be sure to check those out.
