My family's spin on the Sloppy Joe is the Sloppy Doe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb ground deer meat/venison
  • Can of sloppy joe sauce
  • 1-2 tsp of bacon grease
  • buns
  1. Step 1

Melt the bacon grease in a skillet then add your deer meat. There is very little fat in deer meat so there probably will be no grease to drain off. The bacon grease keeps the deer meat from being dry and it will cook better. Another alternative would be to add sausage or beef in with the deer. Once it is thoroughly cooked it's time to move onto the next step.

  2. Step 2

Add one can of sloppy joe sauce to the meat in the skillet. Follow the directions on the can. Just remember it is usually 1 can of sloppy joe sauce to 1 lb of meat. Keep this in mind if sausage or beef is combined with your 1 lb of deer.

  3. Step 3

Let everything simmer for about 5 minutes or so. Next place on bun and enjoy your Sloppy Doe.
