How to Say "You Are Beautiful" in Portuguese

With over 200 million Portuguese speaking people in the world, there might come a day you’d like to tell one they are beautiful. “You are beautiful” in English translates to “você é bonito” in Portuguese. Of course, there may be alternate versions and pronunciations. Brazilian Portuguese and Portuguese spoken in Portugal vary with differences in vocabulary, pronunciation and syntax.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Você é: Pronounce vo-say-ah. The “vo” has a long o sound.

  2. Step 2

    Bonito, which means beautiful: Pronounce: bo-ni-to. Or, for another pronunciation, put the following three English words together: bow – knee – toe.

  3. Step 3

    Say all together: vo-say-ah-bow-knee-toe. Which will be spelled “você é bonito”.

  • Pronunciation is approximate. To get the correct accent, practice your Portuguese with a beautiful Portuguese speaking person.
