How to Make White Castle's Burger Sliders Recipe

White Castle Sliders are small burgers that are served on steamed buns at White Castle restaurants. But going out to eat is not the only option if you are craving a slider --- they are easy to make yourself at home. There are several variations of the recipe, allowing you to substitute certain items if another is not on hand. The burgers can even be made ahead of time and frozen for quick meals later.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Dried Onion Version:
    • 1 lb. ground chuck
    • 2/3 cup beef broth
    • 2 1/2 cups hot water
    • 1 1/4 cups dried onion
    • 20 small dinner rolls
    • Cheese
    • Pickle slices
    • Onion Soup Version:
    • 2 lb. ground chuck
    • 1 pack onion soup mix
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
    • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
    1. Dried Onion Version

      • 1

Place plastic wrap inside a 10-by-14-inch baking sheet. Be sure to line the pan completely.

      • 2

Mix together 1 lb. of ground chuck and 2/3 cup of beef broth and place it on the baking sheet. Flatten the beef mixture with a spatula until it is evenly distributed. Cover the mixture with another sheet of plastic wrap and go over it several times with a rolling pin to flatten it completely.

      • 3

Cut the flattened beef into 20 squares that are 2 1/2 inches wide. Leave the squares on the baking sheet and freeze them until they are completely frozen.

      • 4

Mix together 1 1/4 cup dried onion and 2 1/2 cups hot water in a bowl and let them soak for 10 minutes.

      • 5

Place a large skillet on medium high heat and warm it slightly. Pour in a quarter of the onion mixture and allow it to begin steaming. Place five of the frozen patties on top of the onion mixture and allow one side to cook until browned.

      • 6

Flip the patties over and place the top of a bun on each one. Allow the meat to cook until thoroughly browned. Remove each patty and bun, along with some of the onions, and place them on the bottoms of the buns. Repeat this step until all of the patties are cooked. Add cheese and pickle under each bun top, and serve.

      Onion Soup Version

      • 1

Mix together 2 lbs. of ground chuck, one package of onion soup mix and one egg in a large bowl. Add 1/2 tsp. black pepper, 2 tsp. of water and 1/2 cup bread crumbs and blend it all together.

      • 2

Place the mixture in a 10-by-14-inch baking pan and flatten completely. Poke holes every few inches with a fork. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

      • 3

Cook the beef mixture in the heated oven for 10 minutes. Allow it to cool and cut into 20 bun-sized squares.

      • 4

Place the squares inside the buns and top each with a slice of pickle. Place the burgers on the baking sheet and sprinkle the bun tops lightly with water. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

      • 5

Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 5 to 10 minutes, until the burgers are soft and warmed all the way through.
