Blu-Ray DVD's Keep it Clean!
Blu-Ray DVD's Keep it Clean!

You just decided to watch your favorite blu-ray movie and what do you know it looks dirty. The last thing you want to do is ruin a $20-$35 dollar DVD. So will walk you through cleaning your Blu-Ray DVD.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soft cloth
  • Water
  • Possibly Mild Detergent
  1. Step 1

The good news is that Blu-Ray DVD's actually have a harder coating than standard DVD's. Because of this they are a lot holder to scratch than the older technology. In fact there have been reports of what looks like scratches just being wiped off. But if it still looks dirty here's what you do.

  2. Step 2

When handling DVD's always handle the out edge only to prevent fingerprints on the Blu-Ray DVD.

  3. Step 3

Get a soft cloth preferably a micro-fiber cloth and wipe the Blu-Ray DVD. Make sure you do not rub the DVD and always wipe from the center out not in a circular motion. If you do happend to scratch the DVD it will affect less areas this way.

  4. Step 4

If your Blu-Ray is still not as clean as you would like then try a little water on your soft cloth. Don't douse the Blu Ray DVD although their have been reports of running hot water over a Blu-Ray DVD with no bad effects.

  5. Step 5

If you still have problems some people recommended using a mild detergent with your soft cloth. I don't recommend this unless it's a last resort, but no one has mentioned ill effects from this. Just make sure the detergent doesn't have any abrasive elements.

Tips & Warnings
  • The same Micro-Fiber cloth can be used to clean your Plasma or LCD TV
  • Always handle Blu-Ray DVD's on the edges to limit fingerprints.
  • Do not use any chemical cleaners on Blu-Ray DVD's
