Chocolate is a great treat any time of the year. You don't have to spend lots of money on fancy chocolate treats. You can make chocolate candies and suckers right in your own home. All you need are some molds and a few supplies and you're ready to go. Read on to learn how to make chocolate molds.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Different colors of chocolate
  • Pot (Optional)
  • Stove or microwave
  • Ziploc bags
  • Scissors
  • Spoon (Optional)
  • Plastic sucker sticks
  • Plastic bags
  • Tie wraps
  • Chocolate molds
  • Refrigerator
  1. Step 1

Take the chocolate and melt it in a pot over the stove, or in Ziploc bags in the microwave for about two minutes. If you're using the stove make sure to stir occasionally so the bottom doesn't burn, and take it off when it's completely melted and there aren't any chunks left. For the microwave, take out the bag and squish it around until the lumps are gone. Microwave for longer if it's not fully melted.

  2. Step 2

Wash your mold pans out to make sure they are clean and dry them. Lay out any supplies you'll be using. These can include, but are not limited to, sucker sticks, plastic bags and tie wraps. You may also need a wet washcloth or some paper towels to clean up messes, and you may want to wear an old T-shirt if you tend to make a mess when you cook.

  3. Step 3

Pour the melted chocolate into a plastic Ziploc bag if it is not in there already. Cut the corner off at an angle just enough to let the chocolate be squeezed through. Use a different bag for each color if you have more than one. Squeeze the chocolate into the molds and fill the the top. You can use different colors by applying the bottom color first, then a different color on top of that. This works well if your mold has words or designs on it. Fill in the words with one color and cover it with another.

  4. Step 4

Make suckers by holding the sucker stick flat against the top of the mold. Fill the mold and let it cover the stick. Once you have enough chocolate to cover it, let it go and it should stay by itself. Be careful not to bump them and knock the sticks out. Next, take your molds and place them in the refrigerator. This will take an hour or two for them to harden.

  5. Step 5

Take the hardened chocolate out of the refrigerator and twist the mold to pop them loose. Remove them gently and wrap a plastic bag around each one. Secure the open end with a tie wrap and place them back in the refrigerator until you are ready to eat. Then take them out and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to make a lot of suckers, buy molds that have a slot for the sucker stick already in them.
  • Remember melted chocolate will be hot at first.
