Write and Submit Articles on the Internet to Drive Traffic to Your eBay Store

Article writing is a technique used by bloggers and internet marketers to drive traffic to their sites. eBay sellers can also use article writing as a strategy for increasing traffic to their stores.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • eBay Account
  • Internet Connection
  • Time
  1. Step 1

You can submit articles to sites like eZine Articles, Article Geek, and Articles Base for publication on the internet. You are not paid to submit articles. But, this type of internet marketing doesn't cost you anything either - it is free advertising available to anyone.

  2. Step 2

The articles will, in time, indirectly contribute to your sales. The advantages come back to you in traffic and sales, not in initial cash when writing the article.

  3. Step 3

If you like to write, and are passionate about what you sell on eBay, or your inventory is in a special niche, article writing can be a means to increase your traffic. For example, let's say that you are an expert record collector. You can submit helpful, informative articles about record collecting to these article sites.

  4. Step 4

Choose an article site and create an account. It is free.

  5. Step 5

Read the guidelines for article writing on the particular site. The word count requirements will differ. Some sites publish the article immediately, others take time to process your work. Be familiar with the site before submitting articles so that you will know what to expect.

  6. Step 6

Write and submit your article, making sure to follow the all of the guidelines and restrictions on the site. You don't want your article to be rejected due to a technical error.

  7. Step 7

At the end of the article, leave the link to your eBay store.

  8. Step 8

These articles are indexed on search engines and used on blogs, newsletters, and ezines. The point here is that you want others to use your articles, and spread your links around the internet. Article writing is free viral marketing.

  9. Step 9

Article writing exposes you to others in your niche that you may not otherwise meet. Our record collector from the example above will be able to reach other record collectors or enthusiasts around the world who are reading about record collecting on the internet.

  10. Step 10

You want to establish yourself as an expert, gain the trust of your readers, and establish a rapport with them. If you appear knowledgeable, professional, and genuine, readers will see you as an expert, trust you, and possibly purchase items from you later.

  11. Step 11

Continue to submit articles on a regular basis. The more times you put your eBay links out on the internet, the greater chance you have of someone clicking them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Write about what you know about, are passionate about, and what you are comfortable with.
  • Focus on genuniely helping other people learn and sharing what you know, and the rewards will come back to you later.
  • Don't get caught up in the monetary benefits of article writing. Keep putting your store links out on the internet as much as possible.

on 7/1/2009 Hi Suzanne! Great article. I'm a newbie and am doing research on how to be an eHow success story! I just listened to your podcast with Maria -- that was very helpful, too. Thanks for all the good information! Best wishes, Maggie
