Turning Styrofoam egg cartons into cute turtle toys is simple entertainment for kids and adults. You can have fun and help save the Earth by recycling items into crafts, activities, and toys.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Styrofoam Egg Carton, washed and dried
  • Scissors
  • 3 popsicle sticks
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Brown acrylic paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Tacky Glue
  • Black marker
  • 1 styrofoam tray to serve as a drying tray and paint pallete, or use a waxed paper bag from a cereal box
  1. Step 1

    Cut one popsicle in half. Paint 2 whole popsicle sticks, and one half popsicle stick green. Let dry. Paint backside of popsicle sticks and let dry.

  2. Step 2

    Cut one egg cup from the bottom of a Styrofoam egg carton. Paint the outside of it brown. Let dry.

  3. Step 3

    Glue two popsicle sticks together by making an X with them. Glue the 1/2 popsicle stick as shown in picture, making the head. Let dry.

  4. Step 4

    Rinse your paint brushes and let dry.

  5. Step 5

    Glue your egg carton cup onto the popsicle sticks, creating the body of the turtle and let dry.

  6. Step 6

    With the black marker, make eyes and a mouth on the end of the 1/2 popsicle stick. Let dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use different paint colors to make creative turtles.
  • Use an egg cup for paint brush rinse water, and/or for your paint palette.
  • Use a plastic cup from an individual pudding, or from an applesauce or fruit cup for paint brush rinse water.
  • Use caution with sharp scissors.
